Our Mission
Our most important and vital program is to provide an academic education to young Deaf children in San Miguel de Allende. EEESMA School for the Deaf offers preschool to high school levels and beyond in a bilingual model of Mexican Sign Language and written Spanish. Scientific evidence proves that a child introduced to language (or sign language) at a young age, two years or younger, has a much better chance to succeed academically, making learning to read and write in primary school far more attainable.
Our mission at EEESMA is to ensure that all San Miguel de Allende
children who are Deaf become literate, independent, and productive citizens
who set and achieve life goals.
We invite you to learn more about the school by watching this great little video.

The History: The Burns Supper is a celebration of the life and works of the poet Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), the author of many internationally famous Scottish poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, 25th of January, known as Burns Night, however celebrations may be held at any other time of the year and are held the world over. And for the fifth year with much excitement, Burns Night will be held in San Miguel. Robert Burns, considered the national poet of Scotland, wrote lyrics and songs in Scots language and in English. One of his most famous, Auld Lang Sang, is sung by millions each year when the clock strikes twelve midnight on New Year’s Eve. No matter if you are born of Scottish heritage or are a “Scot for a day” this evening promises to be fun and enjoyable for everyone. Included With All of the Fun: Donnie Masterton, owner and chef of The Restaurant at Sollano 16, offers a delicious three course roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, including a taste of haggis. A vegetarian or gluten free option can be ordered in advance. There will be wearing of the tartan (optional but encouraged), toasts, Burn’s poetry, music and song and a fair bit of humor and laughter. A glass or two of wine and a dram of Scotch whiskey for toasting are also included. Renowned Mexico City bagpiper Rafael Gutierrez will pipe in the haggis. This master musician had the honor of playing for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle and will be playing for your pleasure to benefit children who are Deaf. Adding to the festivities will be locally renowned actors and vocalists Catherine Bryne and Marc Taylor. Seating is limited and those who wish to attend are encouraged to make their ticket purchases early as this event is in great demand. To reserve tables of 4, 6 or 8, or to pay for tickets by way of a bank transfer, please contact John directly at jd98lv(at)hotmail(dot)com Hope to see you there! |
